The Duchess of Sussex is rising above criticism of her widely panned Netflix series With Love, Meghan.

One of her closest friends refuses, however, to take the sniping lying down.

Make-up artist Daniel Martin, who appears with Prince Harry's wife in the first episode, has, I can disclose, taken to social media to attack critics in the most personal way. 'He's trolling the trolls,' I am told.

One Instagram user, Maria Sampson, a London-based fashion design student, commented on an article about the first episode, in which Meghan prepares bath salts for Martin's stay at her home. 'It's got to the point where you just have to laugh now,' Sampson remarked.

At this, Martin, who prepared Meghan before her royal wedding, took grave offence. In response, he mocked Ms Sampson's fashion designs, which she displays on her Instagram page.

'Like your 'designs'??' he jeered, adding that Ms Sampson didn't have the status to dare comment on Meghan's handiwork. 'Don't come for my friend without receipts...' he warned, melodramatically.

Martin, who has been employed by Meghan since he did the American actress's make-up on legal television drama Suits, did not confine his extraordinary efforts to defend and celebrate her to just one form of social media.

On Threads, he responded to a random question about who was responsible for the music used in With Love, Meghan. 'It's all Meghan!' Martin declared. 'She's the superstar DJ.'

Meanwhile, another of Meghan's guests on the series, the celebrated American chef and restaurateur Alice Waters, does not appears to share Martin's enthusiasm for the show.

In episode eight of With Love, Meghan, the duchess is seen overwhelming Waters, a pioneer of the 'farm-to-table' movement, with thanks for agreeing to appear. Waters, 80, looks a little uncomfortable.

And, in her most recent Instagram post, she has chosen to lavish praise on a member of the Royal Family, but not Meghan.

'It was amazing to be present at the meeting of King Charles and Carlo Petrini, of Slow Food International,' Waters says. 'I know we have shared values.'

Fahy admits to mixed feelings over diagnosis

The White Lotus star Meghann Fahy, girlfriend of Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy actor Leo Woodall, reveals she's been diagnosed with a health condition that is a leading cause of infertility.

Describing a visit to her doctor in Los Angeles, the actress, 34, says: 'She took one look at me and she was like, 'Oh, you have polycystic ovary syndrome'.' PCOS is a hormonal disorder that affects around one in ten women in Britain.

Meghann, who met Leo on set of the second series of hit drama The White Lotus, was relieved to have a diagnosis following years of 'all kinds of symptoms'. But she's also frustrated that so many doctors missed what was going on.

New horse lover for Earl?

Countess Spencer has said she's going through a 'challenging time' after separating from Earl Spencer and leaving Althorp, his ancestral home in Northamptonshire.

Karen is, however, delighted to be reunited with her horse, Jack, and has posed with him at her new home. 'He's my favourite [horse] because he is the best cuddler,' she has said.

Gwynnie's sexual revolution

No longer preoccupied with the goings-on of Hollywood, Gwyneth Paltrow asks: 'Why does nobody know about 'female viagra label'?'

The actress and lifestye business founder refers to Addyi, a medication to improve sexual desire. 'Of course, part of the reason is that female pleasure has long been dismissed and considered taboo,' she says.

'We've been conditioned to believe that we don't deserve to ask for what we want, or that our sexuality is too complex to understand. But a shift is under way.

'We're finally breaking down barriers in women's sexual medicine.'

No country for old man Jagger

The film-making career of Gabriel Jagger, youngest son of Sir Mick and Jerry Hall, is being given a boost by the BBC.

Gabriel has produced Rebel Country, a feature-length documentary about a new breed of stars 'challenging the culture and rewriting the rules of country music' to be screened by BBC Two. It touches on the country experimentation of rapper Lil Nas X and Beyonce, whose Cowboy Carter won best country album at the Grammys.

Tuppence in on the conversation

Downton Abbey star Tuppence Middleton has a powerful incentive to learn a foreign language - so she can understand her boyfriend's conversations with their daughter.

The actress, 38, who was dubbed 'TV's naughtiest woman' after stripping off in the BBC's War & Peace, has a two-year-old girl with Swedish film director Mans Marlind, 55.

'Her dad only speaks to her in Swedish, so she understands but she often answers in English. I've been learning Swedish for the last three years, mainly because I didn't want them to have a second language where I couldn't understand what they were saying.'

Robbie after daughter's birth: As you were

While Prince Charles left to play polo just hours after he and Princess Diana brought baby Harry home, in his equivalent scenario pop star Robbie Williams went to the gym.

His wife, Ayda Field, says the singer's 'life continued as it was' after the birth of Theodora, who was a bridesmaid to Princess Eugenie.

'Rob went to work the next day,' Ayda says. 'He had something with James Corden and then he went to the gym for three hours, and I was like, 'What?' So I think for guys it's different.'

Naomie Harris: 'Hi. Okay, we're going to get into bed'

Cast alongside 007 contender Rege-Jean Page in new thriller Black Bag, James Bond star Naomie Harris reveals: 'Our first scene was a love scene. So it was literally, 'Hi. Okay, we're going to get into bed together'.'

Harris, who played Moneypenny, adds of the Bridgerton heartthrob: 'He called me and he was like, 'Do you want an intimacy coordinator? Anytime you don't feel comfortable...' I said, 'No, I don't need an intimacy coordinator. I feel totally comfortable with you.''
